Witchcraft is a calling.

A deceptively simple beginning to this introduction - but a statement of fact nonetheless. It's perhaps also fair to say that many feel that they are called, but few are really chosen. That sounds elitist, but again it's something that I feel is true.

There are many people who will turn to magic, each for their own reasons - be that revenge, desperation, curiosity or whatever reason you care to name... but of those 'many', only a 'few' will find themselves still following the path later in their life. Some become disenchanted with it, lose faith, or simply lose interest. Some find that they have no talent for it, others that it simply doesn't suit them. Perhaps it's more accurate to say that many choose, but few are chosen.

Witchcraft comes from the heart and soul, and from something 'other' which I can't define. It might be called a 'gift'. There have been, are, and always will be endless debates over this 'gift' being inherited or learned - therefore I'll settle for giving my own opinion: which is that magic is like any other talent - a family which has produced generation after generation of gifted musicians might suddenly produce an heir who is tone deaf. Likewise, a person might suddenly find that they have an inclination towards music, nurture it, and then become a veritable Mozart or Brahms. Witchcraft appears as and when it likes, there's no rhyme or reason to it, and isn't that the way of nature?

So, why have I included this section? Not to preach, or even to teach. You won't find a 'how to' section on witchcraft on this site. What you will find are snippets of information on a small variety of topics (see below) - more of an advisory service than a teaching site. If you wish to discuss any topics in detail, then please visit www.wildwitchin.co.uk where you can find myself and other witches who will be willing and able to answer your questions and offer guidance.
