Sabbats are festivals which mark events in the pagan calendar - there are eight in total. There are four which are 'traditionally' known as the greater, or major, sabbats: Imbolc, Beltane, Lughnasadh, and Samhain. The other four are known as the lesser, or minor, sabbats: Ostara, Litha, Mabon, and Yule.

As I only celebrate the 'lesser' sabbats, these are the ones which I will cover in this section. I choose to celebrate only these because, quite simply, they are the ones that 'call' to me. Being a gardener, I'm very aware of the seasons and the way that things change as they pass. Ostara, Litha, Mabon and Yule all mark parts of the year that are dictated by when they occur astronomically - they do not have a fixed date like the others. As such, to me, they feel more in tune with nature, and reflect what is happening to the Earth.
